ICT4COP Receives Grant to Start a New Project on Conflict and Resilience in Ukraine: Learning from Lived Experiences
The project is a collaboration between the ICT4COP Centre at NMBU and the Police University College (PHS), and builds on experiences from the EU-funded Horizon 2020 project ICT4COP. The aim is to strengthen knowledge and capacity in locally based police work in post-conflict situations (COP), with a particular focus on Ukraine. Since the war has created major challenges for the police and civil society, and there is a growing need for expertise on policing during conflict and in reconstruction phases – both in Ukraine and in international operations in which the Norwegian police participate. The project is developing a new course (PCCOP) that will bring together police, civil society, academics and decision-makers from Norway and Ukraine. The course will use dialogue, storytelling and reflection to promote mutual learning and practical skills development. In similar vein, the ethics course at PHS will be strengthened through digital collaboration with Ukrainian police students, giving students insight into ethical dilemmas and cross-cultural communication. Knowledge from this project will be integrated into bachelor's and master's courses at NMBU and PHS, and encourage thesis writing on Ukraine-related topics.
